Is the Xbox release time the same?
Confirmed Microsoft's GTA 6 page lists only the date, "Available November 19, 2026," without a time (Xbox). When can I pre-load GTA 6?
- Confirmed Pre-loading starts at local midnight on November 12, 2026 for digital pre-orders (Rockstar Support).
- Confirmed Pre-loading only downloads the game. It stays locked until your region's release time. No install size has been announced. See pre-load and file size.
When can boxed (physical) copies play?
- Confirmed Boxed copies contain a download code, not a disc. They go on sale from November 12, and codes redeemed before launch can pre-load (Rockstar Support).
- Confirmed On PlayStation, boxed codes only work on an account registered to the matching region, so a code bought abroad won't get you an earlier unlock. Xbox codes aren't region-locked (Rockstar Support).
- Confirmed Rockstar expects boxed copies to be available for shipping and pickup from November 12, and codes can be used as soon as they arrive (Rockstar Support). Delivery dates vary by store; compare them in GTA 6 deals.
Why does GTA 6 unlock earlier in some countries?
Reported Rockstar appears to be using a rolling midnight launch rather than one worldwide moment, so time zones east of the date line get it first. Players in the US will see streams and spoilers for many hours before their own unlock (Kotaku).
